ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Story: The stick insects took turns catapulting themselves into space I love to paint dynamic adventures in colour, often with a mischievous twist. I use freeform brushstrokes to convey a sense of escapade, of romping across the canvas with joyful abandon. Here I have added a resin pour to create texture and a sense of serendipity. Stick Insect Trampoline is painted on cut-out ply and includes resin. Ready to hang.

Painting from her studio in Auckland, New Zealand Kirsty loves to unleash colour, shape, line, and form to create refreshing, expressive abstract artworks, transporting the viewer to another place, to other memories. Having spent much of her life travelling and living around the world, Kirsty is driven by a sense of curiosity and adventure. This stimulation and a love of art, in particular abstraction, forms the basis of her work, conveying a sense of escapade and joyful escapism. Weaving memories with storylines and explosions of colour, Kirsty’s abstract art is like visual poetry. Instead of words and sentences, she intuitively creates a visual dance of the spirit. Her artwork has been featured in popular high-end magazines including, Home & Interiors - Scotland, Square Space - Singapore, AD Pro, Mexico and Maison et Jardin, France. A finalist in several notable Art Awards, including, Walker & Hall Art Award, 2022 to 2024, The Parkin Drawing Prize 2020 and the Molly Morpeth Canaday Award 2017, Kirsty’s work is exhibited widely, she also has a piece with The James Wallace Arts Trust.
