Sculpture: Paper, abaca, Paint on Paper, Wood. This wall sculpture is a celebration of the New England seashore, particularly inspired by Cape Cod. Using non-fading lightfast pigmented pulps that I beat in my Hollander beater in my studio, I carefully arrange each individual section into iridescent colors of bronze, gold, silver and blue that delight the senses. The unique texture of this fiber-overbeaten abaca also used to make rigging for sailing vessels due to its strength-allows for a velvety surface and bold array of colors. I delight in making these pieces because of their textured surface and airy feel of the ocean. The custom frame is made by a local furniture maker. Perfect for the office or home office in need of a breath of salty air.
