ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Thanatos is the third butterfly in a series of seven. It has a twin Hypnos from which it differs for the finish. The work was made entirely of iron but, unlike the twin that was treated to avoid rust, Thanatos was made to rust on purpose. Thanatos is the personification of death and rust wants to represent the corruption of flesh after death.

We are Federica Venier and Federico Grande, a couple in work and in life, self-taught sculptors since 2015. The light interacts with them making them "alive", they change according to the time of day, the weather, the lighting and the point from which you look at it.
