The sculpture 'The Phoenix' by Simon Burns-Cox has been made as part of the new Exterior Garden Sculpture Collection. Made from Green Guatemalan Verde Marble with a White Italian Carrara Marble base, it is designed to represent The Phoenix, a bird which arises from the flames as a winner, beating all life's challenges and defeating hard times. It is a symbol of rebirth from the ashes of the past, representing life as a victory over death. The sculpture is handcrafted and highly polished by hand. It shimmers under light and reflects in water, and acts as a good focal point for a garden or patio. It is suitable for exteriors and interiors. Made to order in all dimensions and limited edition of 500

Simon Burns-Cox is a professional Sculptor and Letter Carver working in Stone and Marble and is based at The Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop in Edinburgh Scotland which is an International Centre for Sculptors. Simon Burns-Cox has been working in stone and marble for a long time. He particularly enjoys the discipline of lettering and has an admiration for Eric Gill's work, the acknowledged master of that craft. Simon loves working with marble because of its texture and the potential of its many veins and colours. Although many of his pieces are abstractions, they have their origins in natural forms. Simon wants people to handle them, to look closely, and to be reminded of hidden things in the world around them. Simon also teaches sculpture, stone, letter and relief carvving courses to groups and individuals at The Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop.
