The hard iron bar from which the weapons are made symbolizes the path of life, often laden with suffering.

The ceramic pieces, which come from the utilitarian sphere, containers for food and drink, are pierced and often deformed by this rigid and sharp material.
Ceramic pieces whose mouth acquires an aspect very similar to the human mouth at the moment of the scream or the grimace of pain.
The superimposition of ceramic pieces that come from the tradition of the potter, which for me symbolize the work of women throughout the history of humanity. A work of care and generosity towards their own, they are deformed, as if trying to shout in the void. Pieces that individually are loaded with meaning, but together tell stories or generate characters.

The work of the Totems for me is like a game. It's like threading necklaces. From pieces made on the lathe, without glazing, I combine pieces and create these vertical forms.

I was born in Barcelona in 1962 and I graduated in Fine Arts in Cuenca's University. I am currently working on the creation of Totems, made up of stacked pieces of stoneware, which come from the field of utilitarian ceramics. I use shapes with expressive deformations, fitting them into columns of variable composition. When I started working in this craft, I realised that everything revolved around the feminine. The earth, the circle and the shapes that emerge from this millenary technique produce utilitarian pieces that are the mark of ancient civilisations, apparently fragile, but which have survived thousands of years underground. The superimposition of ceramic pieces crossed by an iron rod was born as a symbol of women's work, care and generosity towards their loved ones, and at the same time alludes to the feminine role and its historical link with the domestic sphere. Now the work of the Totems has become a game for me, where I thread necklaces on a human scale.
