Trojan Horse was made using found objects, reclaimed wood, various metals on a steel frame and hand made ceramic forms and an earthenware modelled head. I have used a number of techniques and materials in its construction including : brazed steel joints with bronze ; under glazed and smoke fired earthenware forms ; modelled , under glazed and fired horse's head and cast pewter forms. The found materials were discovered on walks through my immediate environment across fields and beaches.They have had a previous existence which gives them character and their weathered surfaces reflect the weather and landscape in which they have been abandoned or lost.The elements and nature are constantly reclaiming and reforming man made objects and places.

Drawing, making, manipulating and constructing with materials and media are my starting points for making works. I am interested in and inspired by my environment, especially the coast and nature. In particular the way that man made structures and objects interact with the natural world , weather ,decay and slowly return to nature. My work is also influenced by 20th century modernist, cubist and constructivist art. I have made work in several mediums currently preferring to work with clay , metal , reclaimed and recycled materials. Works often start with drawn ideas but usually go there own way in the process of making. I find Picasso's quote ' Inspiration exists but it has to find you working' to be true. Experimenting with materials , forms , techniques ,building and making often produces an interesting piece which only when complete can be named , labelled or rationalised. Works are in private collections in UK , Europe , USA and Australia.
