Ryan Coleman’s work combines gestural drawing and painting with carefully rendered elements inspired by classic animation. Intertwining bold shapes, scribbled gestures and vivid color schemes, he reimagines entirely new compositions in his own distinctive form. Coleman specializes in large-scale custom murals in addition to studio work including paintings, drawings and sculptures. Coleman grew up in Jacksonville, FL, and received a BFA in Painting from the Atlanta College of Art in 2001. He honed his artistic talents as a street muralist throughout early adulthood and was heavily influenced by his father, a retired professional cartoonist at Disney who previously inked a nationally syndicated newspaper comic strip for over two decades. Ryan Coleman worked briefly in animation at Cartoon Network after graduation and before moving to New York City where he served as a studio assistant to renowned pop artist Jeff Koons for eight years. Since returning to Atlanta in 2011, Coleman’s murals have been commissioned by global corporations, hotels, and as urban revitalization initiatives. His mural work can been seen at the NCR Global Headquarters and Northside Hospital in Georgia, CCIG Corporate Headquarters in Colorado, VyStar Credit Union in Florida, and in hotels like the W, Renaissance, Canopy by Hilton, and more. His paintings and drawings are included in notable international collections at the High Museum of Art (Atlanta, GA), the Ritz-Carlton (Washington, DC), Hilton Conrad Suites (Chicago, IL), Fairmont Empress Hotel (Victoria, British Columbia), Golden Entertainment Corporate Headquarters (Las Vegas, NV), and BuzziSpace (Antwerp, Belguim).
