Sue Freda is a multidisciplinary artist working across sculpture and mixed media installation. Her practice explores the interplay of light, transparency, and form, using materials such as woven wire, cast glass, resin, and layered surfaces to create immersive, light-responsive works that shift subtly with their surroundings.
Freda has exhibited widely in the United States and internationally, including at the Bristol Art Museum, RISD Craft, Zenith Gallery (Washington, DC), Shayne Gallery (Montreal), and major fairs such as Art Expo New York. Her work is held in prominent public and private collections including Sir Elton John, the Museo Italo Americano, Cirque du Soleil, Fidelity Investments, MEDITECH, and the Waldorf Astoria, and has been presented in contexts ranging from New York Fashion Week to collaboration with designers, such as Nicole Hollis and Kari Whitman Interiors.
Her practice has been supported by residencies at the de Young Museum and Pilchuck Glass School and recognized with honors including the Pollock–Krasner Foundation Award and multiple Rhode Island State Council on the Arts grants.
She lives and works in Warren, Rhode Island where she continues to explore the ephemeral qualities of material, light, and space.
