Year of the Monkey Sculpture

For as long as I can remember, I have been intrigued by Ancient Folklore. One of my favorite legends is the story of the Great Race and the birth of the Chinese Zodiac. My mission in this project was to whimsically sculpt these legendary characters interacting with their Earthly Branches and patinated in their Elemental Colors. The Monkey who is Gold, representing Metal, is one of 12 pieces in this collection. All are hand sculpted from mixed medium, cast in bronze using the ancient lost wax process, and mounted on a granite base. Hard work done with lots of love and a little bit of magic! Coming in ninth in the Great Race, the Monkey is persuasive, skillful and intelligent. The granite base is 4x4x1. This piece is #2 of 3.
