Sculpture: Fabric, Textile on Soft (Yarn, Cotton, Fabric).
……another chapter on the issue of SPACE ….
Since the beginning of 2014, I’m working with a material which is quite new for me. It’s a functional, unrefined, natural and uncolored fabric. In fact, it is made to protect, to isolate, to absorb sound, light and liquids, and to warm.
It is a thicker molleton made of pure cotton wool, that is roughened on both sides.
Out of this protective material, I develop mind spaces that invite you to stay. Spaces, that keep the time, so that it won’t be torn into the suction of hastening.
To allow the thoughts some extra time to stay and not to disintegrate into fragments because of countless, directionless accelerated processes.
The forming of the fabric is to me like a sensual and mental embracement, a conservative and protective moment.
The material is self-referential and won’t be deformed in an artificial way. The spaces are built of its specific consistency and inherent stability.
An interplay between stability and malleability arises.
The color of the material is quite restrained, the space isn’t dominated by a color space.
Opened and closed spaces have been formed; as single or segmented objects.
They are characterized by unostentatiousness, silence and simplicity.
It’s not my intention to depict an item; it’s rather a mental movement, a spiritual moment.
