Cumulus 2007 A naked female figure sits in her monstrous self, her legs apart, takes up space, and confronts her vis-à-vis with the intimidation of her female genitalia. Light complexion, soft flabby modeled flesh contrasted with exquisitely fine red curls framing her head, which is much too small compared to her body. The head, hands, and feed are illustrated in life-size and realistically. They nearly give the impression that they are unable to move or attend to this monstrous body. The body as an accumulation of female sex characteristics seems to create a world of its own. The head is slightly tilted toward the front. Her face expresses far-away thoughts and pleasantness. The delicately configured head is in stark contrast to the aggressive sexual body language. Oftentimes, body and mind are difficult to complement one another. The work is a play on various clichés of femininity. The woman as origin, as the source of life, her vagina is a grotto, deep, dark, moist, and dangerous. It is the man’s fear of primeval times that he is swallowed up by the woman. A smooth surface emphasizes the impression of tension and force; the anatomical details create a surreal corporeal being.
