Matthew Dale Janson’s artworks combine traditional art materials with compressed polyurethane to create high-relief abstractions of landscape and body. Janson’s approach to art-making involves quick, intuitive movements, creating textured, aggressive surfaces. In the spirit of Robert Rauschenberg’s ‘combines’ Janson is working within the intersections of what painting, drawing and sculpture can be.

b.1982; Matthew grew up on a dairy farm in Minnesota. Until the age of 22, he belonged to a small religious community, an experience that would go on to underpin his philosophy for life and art.
