The Worm (Dangerous underworld) sculpture is a light pop-art take on the issue of habitat destruction through the depletion of natural resources. The facial expression of the portrayed animal transmits powerless discontent, suggesting the reoccurring nature of the depicted underground event. The work is meant to remind that an ecosystem’s fall may start with a small seemingly irrelevant event hidden from our eyes.
The artpiece has a hand-crafted metal carcass that was covered by sculpted professional polymer clay, then painted with acrylic paints, signed on the bottom and covered with a layer of protective glaze-like crystal polish.
In the style of Kirill Surikov no 3D-printing or mold-creating was used to insure a more vivid energy exchange between the materialized idea of the artist and the beholder.
