Michele Gammieri was born in Campobasso, Italy, in 1958 and lives in Molise. Since 1980, he has devoted himself to painting, creating a considerable number of works using diverse techniques, such as acrylic, watercolor, photography, and computer graphics. His style is characterized by a playful postmodern polymorphism that ranges from symbolism to abstract expressionism to pop art. His main themes include inner reflection and a metaphysical vision of reality. Of great importance to him were his encounter with and exploration of the vision of Carl Gustav Jung and that of his modern student James Hillman, which paved the way for a long series of works dedicated to the visions and the path indicated by alchemical psychology. His work in recent years has focused on both the techniques best suited to bringing out unconscious content (through, for example, processes similar to Surrealist automatism) and the key figures of archetypes, such as the study of the female figure as a representation of the Anima, or of the Shadow as the dark side of the male and female personality. Landscapes, visions, and more or less obscure places are often the result of genuine Surrealist improvisations, through which painting once again becomes the ideal dimension within which to bring out images of the collective unconscious, revealing the complexity of the relationship between the individual and the movement of global history. She has exhibited her works in various exhibition spaces in Molise. I apologize for my poor English and the few in-depth descriptions of the paintings. My works are difficult to describe in Italian, so imagine them in English. However, I also know how important understanding is, in the case of modern art. Therefore, if anyone is interested in learning more about and better understanding a work not adequately described, please contact me with a specific question, hoping I can satisfy your interest. Thank you.
