Scott is a contemporary artist who loves to imagine surreal and abnormal creatures that usually dominate his canvases. These sometimes blend with hand-lettered, thoughtful messaging that try to employ true and absurd emotion that he sees in the society around him. His search employs bold, bright and brash mark-making and a use of the fantastical imagination that simply cannot be accomplished while illustrating concrete subjects. Scott's background in illustration and love of children's picture books are seen in the characters that come to life in his work. These types of monsters and beasts have been brought to life on the page by Scott most of his life. As a boy, he used to spend hours at a time inventing them and their worlds with his brother on reams and reams of wallpaper; "I love to start with a blank canvas and a pencil or brush, with no particular route in mind, and see where the creative energy takes me. It's a lot of fun to get lost in this world."
