My story. Romeo Robert Tomei has been creating art for decades, born and raised in Manhattan, New York City, not only as a painter, but as an art director, film production designer and interior designer, all experiences that gave impetus to his paintings. Many years were spent in the commercial world in the U.S, and overseas, before he could satisfy his dream of being a professional fine artist. For the last three plus decades he is living his dream. While he is also know for his calligraphic abstracts Tomei’s recent works are inspired by the spiritual connection and energy at work within the natural world and its universe. Working in acrylics and mixed media that includes plaster, gesso, resins and gold/silver leaf, the artist explores earth, trees, moon, sun and sky as symbols of spiritual yearnings. Tomei approaches his work subjectively, always conveying a message, leaving the viewer to expand through their own imaginings. Hence - “My work is never complete, until it reaches, the Eye of the Beholder”, Romeo Robert Tomei
