Joanne Handler was born in Forest Hills, New York in 1960. She attended the University of Pennsylvania, where she first studied photography. After many years of exploring the language of abstraction through photography, Handler was inspired to experiment with abstract painting. While Handler’s time is now devoted to painting, in her most recent series she has found a way to combine the two mediums in a unique and exciting way. Handler continues to live and work in New York City and exhibits regularly in the area. A selection of her paintings are represented by Saphira and Ventura Gallery and Maison 10, both in New York City, as well as The White Room Gallery in Bridgehampton, NY. She also exhibits and sells her work online through Saatchi Art, 1st Dibs and Artsy.
