Gabriela Leyva was born in Mexico City in 1971. She has been involved in artistic activities, as a ballet dancer for sixteen years and as a student of Drawing of Human Figure at Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City. When she moved to Illinois in 2012, she continued her painting studies as a scholarship recipient at the Art Center of Highland Park.
