ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This collage is created strictly with various papers artistically arranged on canvas; nothing else is touching the substrate. I balanced tones of brown and tan tissue papers, some textured scraps of neutral colors, accented with blacks. Heavy white lines were then applied over this background to form an abstraction of a family unit. This piece has texture and calm joy with a spark of hidden red.

I process paint and collage; playing and experimenting with multiple techniques and styles. I am presently working abstractly, using concepts and layers to allow the depths of my experiences to arise within the flow of shape, line and color. My goal is to take the viewer to places beyond thinking; to places that instill an emotional awareness rather than viewing a photographed picture. I want viewers to experience inquisitiveness, turmoil, deep thought, delight, a place to rest, emotion, quietness, or just travel to somewhere brand new. Originally from California, then Asheville, N.C., I raised two sons, entrepreneur two businesses, published a children’s picture book, and acquired a BFA . I teach fine arts to children in my studio.
