ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Drawing nº XI, from a series of abstract drawings. When it comes to transferring matter to the paper in a process called drawing, everything goes. . I like to work with my bare hands, touch the paper and fill the texture, and spread thin layers of powder graphite and dry pigments with the tip of my fingers. In this series, instead of dealing with dip pens, I used a simple and crooked nail dipped in ink. The ink ran out quickly and the lines became brisk and nervous, almost electric. . Done in my studio, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 2020.

I worked for 27 years as an Art Director at advertising agencies, and drew many illustrations for a wide range of publications during this period. But truth be told: the business was no longer making sense to me. It was time to move on. Art has always been a tremendous driving force in my life, and I was already attending EAV (Parque Lage Art School) in Rio de Janeiro. So I decided to have it a go. Since 2014 I've been fully committed to my art career, first digging deep into human forms and more recently dealing with abstract painting and composition. Most of my work is done at the Art School, specially life drawing. Painting and abstract composition is mostly done at my studio, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
