ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I have been obsessed with water-tanks since I was a kid. And I still love to spend a considerable amount of time hanging out on rooftops... The sky changes so many colors during the course of a day in new york city, with white cotton clouds floating by, shifting shapes as they please. I am compelled to do a few of these drawings each month. Some of these are multiple versions of the same water tank... drawn on a different day, in a different mood, with a different sky.

The soul cannot think without an image, said Aristotle. … and the whole reason I paint really. I’ve relished doodling and splattering color on pretty much everything and anything since I was a toddler I’m told. To me, it has never really been about what takes shape on the blank plane but how joyfully lost I get in the process of bringing little bits of nothingness to life. For me, art is an unending quest to maybe reach the insanely intangible heart of this elusive reality that rules our existence. It’s hard to pin down for sure, and I chase it often… sometimes in the rustling of lush trees, at others in the blue depths of the ocean. Often it sneaks around the dark shadows of a metropolis, by a tiny little water tank. I fuss over the same compositions for years together, working and reworking them till something fiery somewhere tugs at my soul. I am an American artist, of Indian origins. I studied with the best at the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design where I graduated with professional degrees in Architecture and Fine Arts. Right now Brooklyn is home, and this is a curated collection of some of my favorite artworks. Instagram -
