My type of scanography is unique. It is a subcategory of artistic photography, I would call it "object scanography". This is because I destructively create three-dimensional objects from various materials, which are then transferred to the two-dimensional through scanography. I have been working with this particular imaging technique for over 20 years. The compositions consist of a wide variety of materials to visualize my theme "cocoon". In doing so, I raise the question of the shell and the external representation of the human being, which also always means a questioning of self-perception. In all this, the aesthetics is always in the foreground for me, not only to show the most beautiful shell, but also to give beauty to the greatest gray. Anke Schmich, art historian M.A., says this about "Cocoon": "... Among other things, the cocoon is to be understood as a symbolic body shell that metaphorically interprets the hollow space surrounding it as the space of an "inner world." Using the special technique of scanography, the artist stages artificial spaces with a wide variety of mostly round objects and materials that allow glimpses into the depths, either allowing glimpses into the pictorial space surrounding them or closed in the middle - but always actively emerging optically from the deep blackness of the background surrounding them.
