My work has always been shaped by a few key influences: Hermann Hesse, James Joyce, Goya, Velázquez, and Gabriel García Márquez. Each represents a confrontation with the unknown — Hesse’s exploration of the psyche, Joyce’s complex, fragmented reality, Goya’s disturbing visions, and Márquez’s magical realism, where time and space are fluid and dreams and reality coexist. These figures have taught me that art isn’t about finding definitive answers. It’s about embracing ambiguity, creating worlds that exist beyond our immediate understanding. I see my paintings as a form of alchemy — a constant negotiation with chance and chaos. I don’t aim to capture reality. Instead, I work with it, allowing the paint to lead me, guided by accident and instinct. The process is messy, unpredictable, often reckless. I layer thick oils, letting the texture dictate the form, then trace the shapes with ink lines that follow their own logic, creating a tension between the organic and the controlled. My canvases aren’t about perfection. They’re about energy, fluidity, and the sense of something emerging from disorder. Having lived in cities like Barcelona, London,Dublin, Los Angeles, and now the quiet of rural France, I’ve always been influenced by the spaces around me. But the key to my work is not the location; it’s the mindset — a willingness to embrace uncertainty and let the process unfold. My paintings ask questions, offer glimpses of other worlds, and in doing so, invite the viewer to engage with something beyond the surface. I’ve had the privilege of showing my work in numerous galleries across Europe, and my pieces are now in private collections globally." "Each piece I create is a reflection of my passion for art and my commitment to quality. Explore my collection and find the perfect piece to bring into your home today." "I love connecting with collectors and art enthusiasts! Feel free to reach out for commissions, collaborations, or simply to learn more about the stories behind my works." Born in Dublin in 1966, Gilmore initially pursued a career as a music producer, most notably working with The Cranberries,Townes Van Zandt, Glen Hansard, De Dannan and a host of Irish artists before returning to his art practice full-time. His early immersion in music has left an indelible mark on his visual work: the same sensitivity to rhythm, texture, and emotional resonance that characterizes great music pervades his paintings.
