I'm using my usual medium of choice: acrylic and charcoal on paper. It's abstract expressionism that allows bright colors and sharp charcoal strokes to share my vision of crowded afternoon tea. Contact us.Michael Ioffe is a painter based in Westchester, New York, working primarily in acrylic on paper and canvas. His work has been shown at the Boston Museum of Fine Art, the Museum of Russian Art, and galleries in New York, Miami, and San Francisco, including a solo exhibition at Cavalier Gallery in Greenwich, CT.
His paintings build compositions out of invented, anthropomorphic figures, part recognizable, part abstract, caught mid-interaction with each other. Loose, expressive brush and charcoal marks hold the image together while leaving room for the viewer's own read. The result is work that rewards a second and third look: paintings meant to live with, not just glance at.
