ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I work in a wide variety of media, including drawing, painting, sculpture and textiles. Being a horticulture scientist, I use my technical scientific knowledge with traditional and experimental forms of visual representation, I maintain a keen interest in science in my work, with a focus on issues related to sustainability in agriculture practices. I see biological progress and change as a metaphor for human relationships. The themes of interest include plant life, traditional agricultural practices, agriculture induced environmental issues, genetic diversity and food security. This painting is done with professional grade high quality oil pastel sticks on archival quality pastel paper. Colours are very vibrant and texture of paper shows up adding another layer of visual interest. The oil pastel paintings needs to be framed under glass/acrylic.

The process of drawing and painting took me to a happy place and helped me to heal from the pain. I work in a wide variety of media, including drawing, painting, sculpture and textiles.
