About The Artwork
"Childhood Memories" is about self exploration-both as a youth and as an artist discovering new heights with challenges. This bas relief was done with textured plaster on canvas and acrylic paint. The texturing took quite some time as I used a pallette knife. The tree is painted with yellow ochre color along with hints of colorful reds. Mixed-Media Artist Former K-12 Visual Fine Arts Educator Community Volunteer Social Justice/Environmental Art Activist I'm a lifetime artist-educator inspired to create by using traditional methods, self-expression, and new media techniques. I draw inspiration from patterns of nature, portraits, animals, and the environment around me. My art depicts personal life experiences and social and environmental concerns. Currently, I'm creating abstract photography by the acrylic pour painting method combined with a technique I call "splashart"- by which water and paint splash together. Simultaneously, I capture still images of the paint and water transitioning and morphing to create abstract paintings. Professional photography prints are then produced. When necessary, digital enhancement is used to enhance the quality of images.
