About The Artwork

Danse Macabre is a mixed media painting on stretched canvas by UK artist Michael Tierney. A celebration of love, life and parties. Of what has been and what could be. The Danse Macabre is an artistic genre of allegory of the Late Middle Ages on the universality of death and created as memento mori, to remind people of the fragility of their lives and how vain the glories of earthly life are. In this painting Michael has interpreted the idea in his own unique and riotous style, featuring new and past characters from his career in a festival of colour and form.
