About The Artwork
Daydreaming was painted in Kyiv, Ukraine. The painting depicts a woman who left a techno party at 6 am in the middle of nowhere. Cherry-blossoms are used as a means of humor to bring some joy to the scene. It is a part of "Blossoms of Hope" - an art project created to bring light and kindness to depressive landscapes of Ukraine. Based on my own experience of living in Ukraine (a country damaged by war and ongoing economic crisis), Blossoms of Hope are designed to demonstrate that love and life can be found even in the darkest places - if one remembers to turn on the lights.

Marina's art projects are created to bring light and kindness to the depressive landscapes of countries that were damaged by the USSR-led communism regime throughout the XXth century. Based on her own experience of living in Ukraine (a state damaged by war and ongoing economic crisis), her drawings and paintings are designed to demonstrate that love and life can be found even in the darkest of places, if one remembers to turn on the lights. Marina derives inspiration from gentle colours and textures – to give hope to her fellow citizens who are trapped in grey realities of Ukraine – a country that went through two revolutions within ten years. Her artworks deeply explore a unique mix of Soviet ballet with urban planning in communist countries.
