ABOUT THE ARTWORK

▧ Original Oil Painting on a gessoed MDF Board. I am a Daily Painter, I began this practice in 2008 when I became a professional painter. Since I started, I have never stopped practicing and what was initially an exercise has become my daily job. I paint as much in my Studio as in Plein Air, either from life, from my photos and from my inspirations on small size gessoboard that I realize in one session. I paint "Alla Prima" to keep the spontaneity of the moment. I live in France, in a small town of Haute-Provence which offers a wide range of landscape subjects in the particular light of the south of France.

French self-taught painter born in France in Lyon in 1971. In 1998 I presented my first paintings at the Galerie Jacques Royan in Lyon. A year later, the Caluire Town Hall asked me to exhibit my paintings of Lyon and its surroundings. At the age of 30, following a personal exhibition, I entered the Pierre Jean Chaffrey Painting Academy in Lyon where I worked with the painters André Disdier, Pascale Paradis and Norbert Vaginay. They transmit to me the passion for painting on the motif. For a short decade, I shared my work with them and participated in group exhibitions at the Galerie de l'Olympe in Lyon. In 2009, I decided to become a professional, I left the Lyon region to open my workshop in Haute-Provence in Sisteron in the special light of the south of France and Brittany where I make recurring stays. My work is inspired by the Japanese philosophy of Haiku which consists of translating the emotion of the moment, but unlike traditional Haikus which are short poems, I use painting as a means of expression. Whether it is a landscape or a still life, my approach remains the same, transcribing the deeply spiritual emotion of the present moment, which is why I create my paintings in a single session.
