Taehun Kwon is a Korean painter based in Seoul. His work begins from the desire to look beyond the visible world and to translate personal memories, emotions, and thoughts into color, line, form, and space. Rather than simply reproducing reality, he seeks to create images that reveal the unseen layers of life the memories we carry, the time we endure, and the freedom we continue to long for.

Since 2019, Kwon has explored themes such as freedom, childhood innocence, time, home, and identity. For him, freedom is not only a social or physical condition, but also the ability to claim one’s own time and move beyond the limitations of body, space, money, and circumstance. His paintings often place symbolic figures within dreamlike spaces, where reality and imagination meet.

Childhood memories are another important source of his practice. Characters inspired by his younger self, childhood stories, films, and animated worlds appear throughout his work as symbols of courage, longing, and imagination. These figures carry the feeling of a time when the future seemed limitless, when one could believe that anything was possible.

Recently, Kwon has expanded his visual language through purple pine trees, hanok structures, golden backgrounds, and motifs drawn from Korean culture. Through these images, he reflects on personal identity, the spirit of endurance, and the relationship between tradition and contemporary life. His work becomes a space where memory, Korean sensibility, and the desire to move toward a wider world coexist.
