ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The overripe eggplant coloured banana matches very well with the deeppurple of the fig and to put that in contrast with the bright yellow of the lemon and the goldleafs was a very interesting thing to do. Also the overripe fruits and the gold has a symbolic value. It's all about vanitas still lifes, popular in the 17th century but since then practised up till now.
