ABOUT THE ARTWORK

"And the wind was fierce, but not as fierce as he remembers. The fish are still caught in winter ; Ice or no ice, the boats go out to sea. People take cruise boats to go out and see. To see the melting ice. The air is so crisp and so clear when the exhaust blows away. I walk, onshore, so small next to those boats, so small next to those mountain peaks." Kelly Allison A travel inspired and climate concerned painting. This piece was created upon returning from time spent in the Arctic circle, the landscape inspired by the Lofoten Islands in Norway. Unmounted artwork that can easily be mounted on stretchers, the painting continues along the sides of the canvas (total dimensions of the canvas 56 x 76 cm), done in acrylic and ink on high quality canvas, with a UV protective varnish. The work is discretely signed on the front and the back of the painting.

"I paint as a means of making sense of the world. Line-work weaves through my canvas as a narrative, relating the parts and taking root. Water is a dominant feature in my art, as the sea has been my place of respite and replenishment since my young self. I’m drawn to unravelling the connection we have with our environments. I hope to inspire others to delight in and cherish our home.” Kelly Allison's artistic inclination flourished during her design and architectural studies in Canada, the UK and Sweden. Originally from Vancouver, she has been living abroad for many years, continues to travel extensively and today lives in France. This diverse cultural background, along with her current observations of the natural world, inform her artwork. Kelly uses acrylic, oil pastel & ink as mediums, using nature's curves & village lines to tell her story. Kelly sells her works worldwide.
