"Maybe it wasn't a desert, maybe it was once a lake, with migrating flamingos and rippling fresh water fish. Perhaps it wasn't a lake, but part of the sea, with salt encrusted edges and pink hues that shimmered at dusk. The backdrop of the hills, or low lying mountains could have been home to shepherds and grazing sheep. Perhaps it was simply home to the bush and to the bumblebees. Maybe it was." A travel inspired and climate concerned painting done in acrylic, ink and sand on high quality canvas with a UV protective varnish. The work is signed on the front and the back of the canvas. "I paint as a means of making sense of the world. Line-work weaves through my canvas as a narrative, relating the parts and taking root. Water is a dominant feature in my art, as the sea has been my place of respite and replenishment since my young self. I’m drawn to unravelling the connection we have with our environments.
