ABOUT THE ARTWORK
One of the beggar girls in Cape Town smiled so hard. I dare not imagine what is behind that smile. To what end she uses that smile to organise her daily survival. How many times she has tried to use that smile to get out of the violence and abuse that seem an inherent part of her life. If i could hold her in my arms, i would say to her: don't smile sweetheart, don't, for 10 minutes. Relax.
