ABOUT THE ARTWORK

All known species of whales have endured massive hunting that have brought them nearly to extinction. Between 1930-1960, when the invention of the exploding harpoon gun and the use of steam and diesel powered factory ships and catcher boats made it possible to kill 29,000 blue whales in one season. Whales have resisted the collateral damage of fishing’s lethal techniques, and have been deprived of their food source because of over-fishing and pollution. They have also been enduring extreme climate changes caused by human activity. A Killer Whale is represented crossing the starry night; here its representation is not material, but purely spiritual, dreamy, and imaginary. The starry night is interpreted as Heaven, the place where the souls go after terrestrial life. The killer whale is already there, after enduring a long journey on this Earth. From now on they will live in their own heaven, in our memory, and in our imagination.

SHIPPING AND RETURNS
Delivery Time:

My work is inspired by Mexico and its culture. I love to tell and represent the myths, legends, and ways of life of pre-Hispanic people such as the Aztecs, and Maya. Also, today’s ethnic groups, alive and vibrant. I moved to the United States after marrying my Connecticut-born husband. I started showing my paintings at local galleries and getting mentions in newspapers. In Connecticut, I discovered a new life. Seascapes, sailboats, lighthouses, whales, and blue-eyed people started appearing in my work. Later I found Native Americans. They are stunning.
