Marian Poiana, originally from Targu Jiu, Romania, is currently based in Bucharest. Since graduation, I've worked as a graphic artist, animator, and lead artist for a couple of companies: ProTV, INDG, Ubisoft, Milestone, and Safeframe. From 2001 I started to work as a classical 2D animator (Mr Bean, Angelina Ballerina, Lars the Polar Bear). In 2015, I won the Animest (International Animation Festival) award for Best Short Animated Movie with "Voyage," an 8-minute animated 3D production that I created entirely by myself. Since 2017, I have been working on my second animated short, "A Hollow Life," as a director, animator, and production manager; this film is currently in production and is expected to be finished in 2019. With all my busy schedule, I always find time, daily, to paint, to be involved with my craft as a painter, it being the only constant in my life. Since the year 2018, I have started a new painting project called "Rural Lights", which is a landscape-based study that offers an escape from the city's busy life. This project serves as a space for introspection and quiet contemplation. Soon enough I'll start posting works from this project. In 2023 I started teaching as a doctoral lecturer in "3D Animation, Character Animation" at Bucharest Art University. In 2024, I took the Dean of Faculty position at ECHO School and taught 3D animation and 3D character animation courses. In 2024, I started a series of realistic portraits and landscapes related to motion, a parallel with my PHD thesis regarding movement in art aesthetics.
