His work is driven by a central pursuit: an image for the divine in our time. Through luminous fields of color, subtle horizons and immersive atmospheres, Peres explores the mysterious relationship between light, perception and emotion. Rooted in art history and informed by his studies in History and Theology at Yale University, Peres began to question how the divine could be reimagined within contemporary visual culture. What began as vibrant pop-inflected compositions has evolved into a refined exploration of color as presence. Each piece is developed through a layered compositional process before its material execution, using inks, pigments and varnishes on canvas or fine art paper to achieve depth, luminosity and resonance. Jonas Peres has participated in exhibitions during the period of the Venice Biennale and at Art Basel Miami.
