#2 in a short series on nature vs. the human affect, or sometimes I want to say human defect considering the way we treat this, our only, planet. Sacred Land to me refers to a place untouched by human habitation, visitation, or occupation. It is as it was when it was created and only changes as nat...

Basically landscapes and florals when it’s warm and figures when it’s cold and nothing grows… and sometimes somewhere in between. Looking back at a 30+ year bouillabaisse of creative adventure (and misadventure), the single most important lesson I can convey is to be original, paint for the soul, and love what you do — because much of the rest is unpredictability disguised as a business. I’m fundamentally a process-driven painter. I live for immersive studio marathons filled with experimentation, doubt, faith, revision, and discovery — constantly chasing ideas that resist me at first but often reveal themselves later. It’s a steady pursuit of something truer, something essential. The work itself occupies the space between the real and the abstract, anchored in the physical world through nature and the figure as muse. These genres are unified through color. Being partially color blind, I approach color not as ornament but as force — sometimes pushing subtlety to its limits while still pursuing a cosmopolitan sense of the sublime. My work has been placed in corporate and private collections throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
