ABOUT THE ARTWORK

On the edge of the tideline I could just make out the silhouette of a man kneeling amongst the rocks with a bucket at his side. His dog bounced through the heaps of squishy slippery kelp. I remembered the days when I was a young girl, digging tunnels into the sand, clam fishing beside my dad. In my bare feet, I walked slowly over the barnacle covered rocks towards the man and his dog. Curiosity and nostalgia sending me his way. 'Periwinkles' he said, as I looked into his bucket. And then we chatted about the ocean, the Pacific, the Atlantic, the tides, the sea life and the days gone by. In this creation, I blended vibrant acrylics with delicate inks to capture the fluid dance of light across the sea. Periwinkle blue and mint green come into this semi-abstract seascape or dreamscape horizon. The art continues along the edges and is signed on the front and the back of the painting. Ready to hang, and to awaken your imagination!

"As a means of making sense of the world, I create vibrant celebrations, exploring our connection with the spaces that surround us. Line-work weaves through my canvas as a kind of narrative, relating the parts and taking root. Water is a dominant feature in my art, as the sea has been my place of respite and replenishment since my young self. I love remembering with paint. I hope to inspire others to delight in and cherish our home.” Kelly Allison's artistic inclination flourished during her design and architectural studies in Canada, the UK and Sweden. Originally from Vancouver, she has been living abroad for many years, continues to travel extensively and today lives in France. This diverse cultural background, along with her current observations of the natural world, inform her artwork. Kelly uses acrylic, oil pastel & ink as mediums, using nature's curves & village lines to tell her story.
