ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The eighth painting from the series "Blooming" is meant to show the peak of flowering in full force. To create paintings from this series I go to the picturesque village Kolodiste in the heart of Ukraine during peonies' blooming season. There I pick flowers with my own hands and embody their beauty in my paintings. This picture like all my works is made in the technique of Flemish painting.

Probably every artist remembers in details the moment when he decided to give their heart to art. My love for art was discovered when I met the still life of the Dutch master of the 16th century - the incredible painting by Jacob van Hulsdonck "Still life with Lemons, Oranges and Pomegranate". This work of art made a very strong impression on me, so I decided to learn the style of Flamish painting. As soon as possible, I found a teacher who helped me master the technique of the ancient masters. And then the painstaking work on improving my skills began. I made dozens of copies of paintings of the 15th and 16th centuries. And each painted picture was not an ordinary redrawing, it was a study of the master's life, their experiences at the time of painting the work. In this way, I better understood the painting I was redrawing. Mastering this technique, I knew that I would translate it into modern painting. During 10 years of study, I came to create my personal series "Blooming", which I have been working on for three years. History is cyclical. Always in the darkest times there was the development of art, which gave a ray of hope for a bright future. This happened in my work as well. The great grief that engulfed our country became an impetus to create life-affirming and powerful paintings that depict the peak of the flowering of life. In three years, 19 large-format paintings were created, 15 of which already have their owners. When people come to my studio and see the paintings live, they say: "Your paintings are alive, they breathe!". And this is the highest praise! After all, this was the effect that once struck me in the paintings of great masters. And fortunately, I managed to master it and embody it in my painting - Life and Air.
