ABOUT THE ARTWORK
A field of poppies along the roadside in spring is brilliant and moving. Painting them on a bright spring day just felt like the right thing to do. I always think of Van Gogh when I am out painting, what an inspiration, and so I was inspired not just by the beauty of the poppies and the colours but by the thought of Van Gogh going out to paint too, following in his footsteps.
