This painting is inspired by a missing painting of a Nigerian princess from Nigeria (ilé ife) her name is princess Adetutu Ademiluyi. She is a national icon in Nigeria. The painting was later discovered in a north London flat, I decided to repaint the princess and I added a Cigar to her fingers and gave her a beautiful handbag inspired by my iconic inspired padlock bag. The cigar represents “bad ass princess” the handbag represents “ protection from theft “ I hope that it’s viewers will feel the emotion and joy of the lost and found painting. I chose this acrylic medium because I work best with it and the style represents Africa/Nigeria which is where I come from.

My name is Ronke ladipo, an award winning fashion designer and a self taught Creative Artist from lagos Nigeria. I paint on canvas I create hand painted inspired Padlockbags which doubles as a miniature deco. I’m an alumni of Academy for women Entrepreneurs (2021) in partnership with the US Consulate. My main passion is Creating and painting. I embrace the challenge of Creativity and believe that my artwork celebrates womanhood and criticise a society I often view as unsafe and sexiest. My work shows a deep concern for social security issues and gender equality especially from where I comes from. this is why I use object like the Padlocks which symbolizes security. I named my body of work “ Agadagodo “ it’s the Yoruba translation for a padlock which symbolises security. In this case, security of the Female Gender and protection in the Nigerian society. I believe that a good design and painting is just not a sketch or a photo but communication with the Society. My Work Style is Portrait painting, Abstract art, metal and leather crafting and my Medium is Acrylic paint.
