Roosters make such interesting subject matter for painting. their contrasting plumage and proud stance inspire drama. I painted this rooster as an abstract design in red and black. His body fades into the background, maintaining the division of the canvas in to red and black. The brushwork is active and you can see details of the rooster within the deep colors. The canvas has been mounted to a prepared panel and is framed in a simple black "floater frame".

A native of Fort Worth, Texas, my artistic career began at an early age when I began painting with my mother on Sunday afternoons.
