For most of us, at a certain point in life, we come face to face with the question of the ages, a deep claustrophobic longing for meaning "WHY ARE WE HERE AND WHERE DO WE COME FROM", for some, faith in religion and an Almighty creator is saving grace, some it all boils down to mere meaninglessness, which brings me to the other's alternative which inspired this painting. The "simulation theory" may not be the version of our reality I personally subscribe to but I must admit, it is quite intriguing a proposition it stirs the imagination, it has a familiar compatibility to the "multiverse theory" one of multiple realities, all existing at the same time with probably varying physical laws differing from our own, in fact I cant help thinking the simulation explains the inception of a multiverse. Risking a little contracdiction to the mainstream scientific approach since I'm borrowing from their take on the subject, curiosity and creativity is innately imbedded within our construct, we love to sit back and admire our handy work, which can take the artistic/decorative or scientific forms, the unfotunate part not to come off as being judgmental is a little too often, some cases of our handywork is created at the cost of life or quality of it,....a fish tank is a simple but perfect example of our decorative handy work that fits this version perfectly, the fish arent aware of world beyond the tank beside the imediate sorroundings just outside the glass barrier, making part of their scope of awareness, at least as far as we can discern, the beholder is unknowingly simulating an alternative world for the fish, now imagine another fish tank in another room within the same house hold, a slight difference , now let's dive a little deeper with the consideration of an already floating mainstream idea that we could be one of a multitude of simulations being run by higher beings, beings thousands of years much more technologically advanced than we are, probably versions of our selves, then emerging picture has no major degree of seperation from that which is now mainstream, hugely developed and explored in the 1970s , and behold the "many-worlds interpretation " MWI, which is basically an interpretation of quantom mechanics assertion of the universal wave function, I loosely interpret as the deterministic nature of our evolving reality..........this is the place where philosophy and realists collide, since philosophical realism claims that truth consists in the consolidation of cognitive representstion and reality, while realist on the other hand tend to believe that whatever we believe right now is an approximation of reality but the accuracy and deeper understanding can be improved. This whole juorney brought me full circle to a verse in the Islamic scripture, QURAN; Chapter (17) sūrat l-isrā (The Night Journey) And they ask you, [O Muhammad], about the soul. Say, "The soul is of the affair of my Lord. And mankind have not been given of knowledge except a little."

Born in Kampala capital of Uganda I am a self-taught artist and all my work is inspired and driven by capturing emotion, In my growth and progression as an artist, i came to an early realisation and appreciation that emotion drives us, we do every thing we do to feel and this makes us feel alive. Our status or state of mind is important to us and we more than often feel the need to share, despite whether or not the intended recipients share in our sentiments or even preconceptions, and for this very reason social media has revolutionised how we interact, capturing significant moments of our lives in emoticons and pictures as they paint a thousand words, from a smile, of happiness, to a the abstract representations that are open to interpretation. We digitally capture, share, express and preserve emotional moments as they are all meant to stir up a feeling in the viewer, be it fear, joy, intimidation, debate, empathy etc. My art/paintings embody this concept as i focus on capturing emotion in people, wild life, and my mind's conscious/subconscious discourse in form of figurative abstract expressions. I work mainly in Acrylics or a mix of both Oils and Acrylics on canvas but i also explore African traditional materials/surfaces like "back cloth" made from the back of a "Mutuba" tree. I combine surreal with figurative abstracts as a series and another series of wild life, with our closest cousins the primates making the greater portion of my body of work in this series.
