About The Artwork
When I started this painting, I had the urge to choose red, orange, yellow, and green. For some reason, I knew I had to have a dark blue background. As I started painting on the dark background, I felt a rush of heat all over my body and I felt I was diving into a terrific fire. I felt as if my plane was crashing in a jungle, right into a great ball of fire. Sweating and in awe of the sudden unfamiliar feeling that took over me, I knew that I was an American pilot crashing with my fighter plane somewhere in Vietnam. I have no explanation for what I felt and saw in my mind's eye, but I know that I died in Saigon.
