ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I drew Santo Niño with an offer from an old friend, so this is already sold. The Santo Niño is a statue of the "Holy Child Jesus". The friend asked me to give it to his friend who lives in New Zealand for her family's new house celebration. The keyword is "sublime". When I did my own research for the production, I realized that Santo Niño contains many various elements. "Nobility" and "friendliness", "child-like cuteness" and "dignity", Santo Niño, which has such characteristics and because of its depth, I enjoyed to create. The basis of my own creation is to make use of black as a color to compose and harmonize the screen. This work is created acoording to its concept. The client, who is a friend of mine, is an open person and said that he would be happy if everyone could enjoy Santo Niño as a "digital print (giclée print)". Furthermore, he said that he realized that it is possible to express "sublime" in contemporary art. If you like this work, we would be happy and enjoy it in print.

I'm not thinking about becoming a minimalist, I'm thinking about how to tell a story in a limited elements. I often inspired by the things around us, nature and music. In creating of forms, the nature told me a lot of things. And in color, I am particular about black and white as colors, and another colors are appearing, too. I think each human life is not easy, so if viewers can be played in a different world, then I am happy. For me, creation is a place to live. Kyo-Yuzen is one of the traditional and artistic Japanese dyeing methods. I was born and raised in the Kyo-yuzen family in Kyoto, Japan. Also my relatives were nearby, and many of them worked for Kyo-yuzen. I thought that "human beings draw pictures" in my child hood. There are many traditional and modern museums near my home and visited there well. Also I love children's picture books, Western animations and dramas on TV, and Manga, too. So many cultural feelings penetrated me, and I would like to fuse them to create artworks naturally. My career is started as a textile designer for Paris and NY haute couture in the textile design company and next entered a German textile designer's studio as the same occupation. After that as a freelance, I set up own studio in Aoyama, Tokyo, created many illustrations and artworks. Creating artworks and held many solo and selected group exhibitions in inland and overseas since then.
