I aim to decentralize the human experience and ego by introducing an objective perspective to the human condition, using animals; the penguin in particular as a way to humorously illustrate the fundamental traits of human nature. I question the relationship between humans and animals; our shared behavioral patterns and experiences. My subjects lend themselves to the bodies of humans merging and juxtaposing these two worlds. By doing so, I explore the question of how we perceive ourselves in relation to both the human and non-human world and whether we cross these boundaries. Through my work I am highlighting the limitations of human perception and inviting people to consider other ways of viewing the world. In this sense, I am trying to provoke a shift in thinking encouraging the audience to become more aware of their place within the natural world.
