Five layered big painting. The first layer started out as usual with some turpentined diluted paint, applied with brush and edited with knives. For the second layer some more thicker paint was applied in certain areas, which I covered entirely with plaster some days after. The forth layer consist of a large variety of colors in different consistencies which you can see in the photos, and finally, by using knives I applied strokes of black. In this painting I've displayed a more personal emotion. I made this painting during a stressful period in my life, which I'm sure is a phase ever artist has to go through as some point. I had little to no income, I've been working tirelessly on getting the wheels to turn for my career. Making my website, registering my business, keeping my audience engaged, all of a sudden I had to do a lot all at once, and I didn't have time to stop. The bills started to pile up so I was on a time limit. So during that period I didn't have much time to paint, and since I try to have a strict schedule on my posts, I managed to squeeze in time for it. Since I felt I was running out of time I was rushed when I was painting, which never leads to satisfying work. So as my frustration kept growing, I kept on working on it. And here it is. Finally I'm satisfied, and I think the painting tells the story quite well. All that chaos of colors and directions, which slowly gets swallowed by an eerie black.

Your actions are subconciously steered, your perception, painted by your emotions. Delve into the mind of an artist diagnosed with bipolar disorder and ADD, and explore my emotions through abstract art. My name is Aleksander Borgerød, I am an abstract painter based in Norway. I went to art school during most of my childhood and once more during my adult life, apart from that I have a degree in business administration and economics. Currently I’ve been painting with oil & canvas for six years. “Emotional Bias” - An artistic study on the the subliminal effect emotions have on artwork. The project is based on an actual theory of the same name, and it revolves around how our emotions controls us to an extent we don’t even notice. I like to compare it to “lenses” that we use to perceive our surroundings, and every emotion is its own color.
