ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Signage in mid-century pop culture has become a favorite them of mine. I was originally inspired by the graphic nature of architecture and it's weathered facades. Now I am interested in an honest portrayal of a disappearing type of icon. Vintage Commercial Architecture, particularly mid-century neon is highly sought after. I visit each location in person and so I have a picture in my mind of how I would like this to be captured. This particular work is of the Broadway 50 50 which is located in San Antonio, Texas. I feel watercolor is the perfect medium for me to work with these images. The textures and colors are a reality for me.
