HAKAN ECEVIT Born in Gaziantep in 1982, Hakan Ecevit began his artistic career through painting during his high school years. After gaining admission to the Faculty of Fine Arts at Hacettepe University, he completed his higher education in the Department of City and Regional Planning at Gazi University’s Faculty of Architecture. Spending a period of his life in Paris, France; Cologne, Germany; and Amsterdam, the Netherlands; Ecevit had the opportunity to expand his expertise in fields such as art history, drawing techniques, and architecture by collaborating with local artists. He gained recognition in the international art scene by holding his first exhibition in California, the United States, in 2017, with his works featured in numerous prominent exhibitions and fairs since then. Hakan Ecevit’s works comprise compositions where figurative elements are harmoniously integrated with a strong sense of aesthetic sensitivity. The themed series he creates with his distinctive technique stand out as expressions of his observations on life, space, and humanity. One of Ecevit’s works has been selected as the cover design for a novel set to be published in 2025 by the world-renowned publishing house Simon & Schuster, based in the United States. This achievement marks a milestone that will contribute to his art reaching wider audiences on international platfors such as Amazon and Goodreads. So far, the artist’s works have been exhibited at international art fairs such as Art Ankara, Art Contact Istanbul, Miami, and Varna, and he is also renowned for his pieces adorning the walls of some of the prominent federal schools in Germany. Hakan Ecevit has received acclaim in various curatorial selections worldwide, successfully representing contemporary Turkish art of painting. His exhibitions have received significant coverage in major national print, visual, and audio media outlets. Artist Statement He is always seeking a new way of contemporary art and he continues to create different styles of artworks. For him everything starts with dreaming and he believes that the creativity is innate. He reflects the world around him on his drawings and paintings by reshaping it with his imagination. Creation starts with a shape or image appearing in his mind. Sometimes an entire image appears in his mind, but sometimes he follows his instincts without knowing what will be created in the end. Sometimes his artworks have a discourse, sometimes just let you feel it by yourselves.
